Delaware State University Athletics
The Delaware State Hornets compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference of the NCAA Division-I. Intercollegiate sports include baseball, football, wrestling, softball, volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, and tennis. Most recently, the Hornet’s men’s basketball team won the 2005 MEAC basketball championship. The Athletics Department is home to seven different athletic facilities including Alumni Stadium, Soldier Field (baseball), The Hornets Nest (softball), Schutte Park (soccer), Brunswick Doverama (bowling), and the DSU tennis courts. The Athletic Department also houses a dedicated Sports Medicine unit that provides prevention, diagnostic, and therapy services to students, athletes, and student-athletes.
Delaware State University is an NCAA Division I school, with baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, tennis, track & field, and wrestling for men and basketball, bowling, cross-country, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, and volleyball for women. The team nickname is the Hornets.
Sports facilities include an indoor gymnasium for basketball, volleyball, and wrestling; a football stadium, a baseball field, a softball field, a soccer park, and tennis courts and bowling facilities.
